The goal of the Cultures in the Classroom series of books is to introduce elementary-age children to a wide diversity of world cultures.  This goal will be accomplished through fictional narratives that focus on the experiences and adventures of characters who are similar in age to the intended readership. In each book of the series, the main character will navigate through his or her cultural, social and physical world in order to solve a mystery, resolve a problem or to make a discovery.  It is intended that cultural content will be integral to the plot, rising above mere background or setting.  Showing "culture-in-action" will be favored over lengthy exposition or description.  Great storytelling will be absolutely essential!
